..***************************** Welcome! This is Heroes of Might and Magic I full walkthrough. The movie comes without music and sound, because its recorded as time lapse - its 190% of regular Heroes 1 speed. I have choosen Lord Alamar army because this is the most versalite army in entire game. Please post some comments about mine run, I very appreciate it. :)) ***************************** General tips on Heroes 1 strategy: 1. Remember that there are no marketplaces at all. Don't waste your time getting unuseful resources, because you won't trade them anyway. 2. Use AI dumbness everytime. They are moving in some patterns, its quite easy to find out those patterns. 3. Don't try to build superior army in this game. AI Heroes LOVE to split armies, so you won't need superior hero with for example 10 dragons, 40 hydras, 90 griffons, 100+ gargoyles when you have to deal with 20 AI heroes with starting armies. 4. Remember that dragons are immune to all spells and phoenixes are immune to elemental rain. Try to combine those facts and use it as advantange. 5. Try to not cast spell before enemy hero does, because you may end with 40 berserked hydras that wipe out your army. 6. Try to find out combat pattern, its quite easy. Initiative depends on speed, and games flips sides each battle round. 7. Never take experience from chests. In Heroes 1 levels don't yield much bonus, its better to have that 1,500 or 2,000 gold coins instead of level up. ***************************** Again, this is tough map. Enemies are starting on winter, with fully built castles (at least I believe so) and you must cross very large desert to get to their homes. As barbarians, they have natural bonuses for moving on "hard" terrain like sand or snow, so you have one disadvantange at start. They have six towns and you have only three, and you can't even afford for fully build all of them. You don't have much resources on start but your starting territory is quite rich, you must grab all loose resources as soon as possible and develop army. Barbarians like to attack you with strong armies on 2nd-3rd week of game, and you will have to defend. There are all kinds of mines on your territory, you must capture everyone because you will need Dimension Door spell to travel fast on deserts. We are not attacking enemy soon here, the tactics is diffrent - now we are defending as long as it is possible. With dimension door (for me it was in second castle, but its random) and boots of speed enemy won't be able to take your towns, but you must always buy new army from castles and carefully fight to minimalize possible loses. Barbarians will leap through desert from time to time attacking you with their weak heroes, but strong armies. If you see that your enemy is using "Berserk" spell, NEVER EVER cast spell before enemy, because you will HAVE to counter berserk. There is nothing worser on this planet than having berserked 90 minotaurs and watching how they slaughter your own army. After some attacks (they will be weaker and weaker, instead of you), barbarians will stop attacking for a while - it means that they went into gold problems, and now its your turn to attack. Get strongest possible army and head to winter, capture their cities one by one (i suggest building lv4 guilds there, you can find some good spells). The castle in south-east of winter is "main" castle with immoble hero, there is VERY strong army sitting here (for example 50+ cyclopses!), so attack the last city ONLY if you are really ready for that. Don't worry, enemy will never come out from city. As you can see in movie, I haven't built dragons in this map, I don't think they would give me advantange (I didnt have armageddon in guild anyway..), and its better to develop few magic guilds instead of gay dragons. With these numbers and your small purse, I wouldnt probably be able to recruit them (3,000 bucks per dragon head), so I left them alone. It really depends on what Lord you are playing, but with Alamar (warlocks) you should build only two cities (up to hydras) and third only for centaurs+gargoyles+griffons (the main of your army). Just defend your homebase and watch their gold deplete, use spells for your advantange (go for dragons if you have spell power 8+ and armageddon), use nasty berserk spell if you have, with teleport spell you always can suprise enemy by placing your 100 minotaurs behind castle walls etc. Just think carefully, and that scenario won't make any trouble for you. Next parts coming soon. Less
